Sam Blackwell
Director of Strategic Communications | he/they
As Director of Strategic Communications, Sam is responsible for helping our staff and community name the importance of climate justice and to tell the stories of this work. Their goal is that people across Minnesota see themselves in this work and feel empowered and inspired to act.
Before coming to MNIPL, Sam spent his career working on shifting systems and organizations towards inclusion across race, gender, and sexuality. They spent a decade working in non-profit and philanthropy to support and grow solutions to homelessness that are focused on people, their experiences, identities, and cultures. He also has worked as a coach and facilitator in helping individuals, teams, and organizations discover where equity and justice show up in their lives and workplaces. Over the last five years, he has also co-hosted Just Break Up, a podcast that offers relationship advice that is grounded in mental health, self-love, antiracism, queerness, and sex positivity.
Outside of work, they love to run and bike, read an array of fiction and non-fiction, and enjoy all the beauty Minnesota has to offer.
