Gunther Melander

Solar Outreach Coordinator

Gunther is part of the solar outreach team at MNIPL, where he works to build the movement for community-owned solar in Minnesota. Gunther grew up in rural Wisconsin, and developed a passion for protecting the environment by researching algae pollution in Menomonie at University of Wisconsin-Stout. On campus, he worked as a Sierra Student Coalition organizer on the Seize the Grid Campaign, and acted as Vice President of the Student Association. After college Gunther worked as the regional lead for Sunrise Semester, an electoral fellowship program with Sunrise Movement aimed to make climate change a pressing issue in the Midterm Elections.

Gunther cares deeply about bringing environmental and climate justice to rural areas, and is always excited to talk to anyone interested on the subject.
