2017 Camp Dates & Info

July 17-21 at Masjid An Nur in North Minneapolis 9:00 to 1:00 daily (Sponsored by First Universalist Foundation )

During this camp, youth learn from local leaders in the solar arena.  They will build a sense of self-sufficiency by learning how to work in teams to create their very own solar boats and solar village.  They will engage in the emerging field of renewable energy by building relationships with electricians, solar installers, solar marketers and more. Youth will also have a chance to share their life story and to dream about the emerging opportunities in developing renewable energy. In 2015 Shiloh Temple International Ministries and the Just Community Solar Coalition joined in partnership to create the first community solar garden in North Minneapolis. We are committed to showing that the solar revolution can be an opportunity to train a local workforce and help to close the employment gap, and to offer a solar array to residents of North Minneapolis that is accessible to everyone. As part of the Just Community Solar Coalition, Jamez Staples has offered workforce development for residents of North Minneapolis.  Through this training, we met Keith Dent (founder of Just-B-Solar). In summer of 2016 we hosted our first Just B Solar camp at Shiloh.  In Summer of 2017 the Shiloh Just Community Solar Array will be built on the roof of Shiloh Temple, and we will host 2 camps.  One at Breck School, and one at a faith community in North Minneapolis.  We are excited to bring youth into this exciting period of history.
