Interfaith Support for Dar Al Farooq

We are outraged by the spike in hate crimes and threats against our Muslim brothers and sisters, particularly today’s violence at Dar Al Farooq Islamic Center. Our prayers are with our partners at Dar Al Farooq Islamic Center and their community as this travesty is investigated.

This attack comes on the fifth anniversary of the shooting at Sikh temple in Oak Creek, WI where six were killed. Violence against any faith is violence against the principles of our country. There is still much work to be done and at MNIPL we commit ourselves ever more deeply to the work of fostering interfaith cooperation.

We know that Minnesota can be a place where interfaith cooperation thrives. At MNIPL, we saw the promise of our country as the Adhan (call to prayer) broadcast over the Cedar Cultural Center in Minneapolis at our annual Interfaith Unity Iftar. There is great promise and power in people of every religious tradition working together.

We have asked our member congregations to include the Dar Al Farooq community in their congregational prayers at services this weekend. We stand in support and solidarity with all those affected and call on everyone to stand up, speak up, and reach out to each other with love, compassion, tolerance, and extravagant welcome.
